Licensing

Who sets the license?

Every dataset on RDL Hub carries a license chosen by the researcher who published it. The license is shown on the dataset page before you download or purchase anything, and it does not change after acquisition.

Open licenses

Many datasets are shared under open licenses (such as Creative Commons variants). For these, the license text on the dataset page governs reuse — including whether attribution is required, whether commercial use is allowed, and whether derivatives may be shared.

What a purchase grants

When a dataset is offered through the marketplace, completing a purchase issues you a personal, non-transferable license to download and use the files listed in the order. The license appears in your Library together with its download links. It does not transfer copyright and does not permit redistribution of the raw files unless the dataset's license explicitly allows it.

Attribution

Unless the license states otherwise, cite the dataset in any resulting publication. When a dataset has a DOI, use the DOI in your citation.

Questions and disputes

If a license term is unclear, or you believe a dataset infringes your rights, write to info@rawdatalibrary.net and we will review it promptly.
